About the Franklin Method®
The Franklin Method®, developed by Swiss movement educator Eric Franklin, is interested in improving quality of movement using techniques involving the brain and nervous system. The method has a special focus on the use of imagery. In addition to using metaphorical images (“imagine your shoulders melting like butter on warm toast”) the Franklin Method® teaches anatomy so that we can use our anatomical knowledge to visualize and feel what is happening when we move. When we understand and can embody our anatomical design, we can improve performance, reduce the risk of injury, and improve our wellbeing.
